Privacy Policy

Taqweem does not collect any data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party SDKs, and no servers of our own. Nothing you do in the app is sent to us, because there is nowhere for it to be sent. If you are signed in to iCloud, your data syncs between your own devices through your private iCloud account — which we cannot read.
What the app stores
Everything the app remembers is stored on your device, in a container shared between the app, its widgets, and the watch app:
- Your prayer and sunnah tracking history
- Athkar and duaa completion records
- Quran reading position, bookmarks, and khatmah progress
- Hadith bookmarks
- Your moonsighting log
- Your settings — calculation method, madhab, notification preferences, and location
This data is not sent to any service we control. It is included in your device's own iCloud or local backups if you have those enabled, which is between you and Apple. Deleting the app deletes it from that device.
iCloud sync
If you are signed in to iCloud, the items listed above — apart from your location, see below — sync between the devices signed in to your Apple Account, so your tracking history and settings follow you from one device to the next.
This uses your private CloudKit database. It belongs to your Apple Account, it counts against your iCloud storage, and it is governed byApple's privacy policy.We cannot read it. A private database is not visible to the developer — not through any tool Apple provides, including the developer console. We see no records, no account identifier, and no indication of who is using the app.
You can stop it at any time by turning iCloud Drive off for Taqweem in your device's iCloud settings, or by signing out of iCloud. The app remains fully functional with no iCloud account and with no internet connection — it simply keeps everything on that one device. Data already in iCloud can be deleted from your device's iCloud storage settings.
Your location is deliberately excluded from sync and never leaves the device it was measured on. See below.
Location
Taqweem asks for location access only while you are using the app. It never requests background or "always" access, and it does not track your movements.
Your coordinates are used on the device to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction.
Your location is stored separately from everything else and is never synced, even when iCloud sync is active. It stays on the device that measured it. This is partly privacy and partly correctness: a tablet sitting at home should not decide the prayer times on the phone in your pocket while you are travelling.
Two features send a location to Apple rather than keeping it local: looking up a city by name, and turning coordinates into a place name to display and to pick a sensible default calculation method. Both are handled by Apple's own MapKit and CoreLocation services and are covered byApple's privacy policy. We never see those requests.
You can decline location access and set your city manually instead.
Camera
The Qibla screen can overlay the direction of the Kaaba on a live camera view. The camera feed is displayed and never recorded, saved, or transmitted. No photos or video are captured at any point.
Notifications
Prayer, athkar, duaa, and reading reminders are scheduled locally on your device. No notification is ever sent to you from the internet, and we operate no push server of any kind. We have no way to identify you or to send you anything.
The app does register for silent background notifications, but only so that iCloud can tell it that one of your other devices has made a change. These carry no content, are never shown to you, and come from Apple rather than from us — the resulting device token is used by iCloud alone and is never read, stored, or transmitted by the app.
Apple Watch
If you use the watch app, your prayer times, settings, and tracking are synced directly between your iPhone and your Apple Watch over Apple's device-to-device connection. That data does not pass through us.
Children
Taqweem is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
